Hello, Connie Heinen here. I will be showing some of my art work at the festival this Sunday. Please stop by my booth and check out my pastel and acrylic paintings. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there!! I am excited to participate in the 19th annual Festival de Artes this year once again. I remember the very first Festival de Artes...I was in it!. I'm excited to introduce my "Baja Trays" .... Bring art to your table....My original artwork on tiles put into serving trays. Along with trays I will have ceramic tiles, paintings, prints, placemats and more. Hope to see you there, Toni Jones ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TO THOSE WHO HAVE EVERYTHING: You don't have Dainty Gemstone Dangle Earrings, Baja Bugs ala devils claws, Sparkling Crystal Suncatchers, Painted Palo de Arco walking sticks, Seaglass/Oyster shell ornaments or perhaps even Palapa Pets. All creations of a frenzied retired Kindergarten teacher. Last year for the Faire! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GREAT, FUN, FESTIVAL FOOD will include two Texas style BBQ beef sliders on a plate with cole slaw to start. Later or even at the same time you can have a 1/4 polish sausage with chips and all of the condiments you can imagine. Still hungry?? How about three tacos al partor or three carne asada tacos. Needless to say there will be a full bar serving all of your favorites plus soft drinks and water. All food an drinks will be sold by tickets so make sure to find one of the two ticket stations at the beginning of the day. Coffee and snacks will be available for sale early in the day for our artists. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once again you will find my Pelicanos at the Art Festival-See you there, Vickie Heaps ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ East Cape Recycling Baja is pleased to have a booth and be participating in the Art Festivalthis Sunday!! We will have available for purchase these newly arrived and wonderful all-purpose and grocery bags. They are adorned with our message to 'Imagine a Green Earth * Imagen un Mundo Verde'. In addition, we will be selling glass ware and stem ware purchased with the credit we received from recycling the clear glass bottles with the Blown Glass Factory on the Corridor in San Jose. We will have affordable individual and sets available. Also, we will have newly printed stickers for homeowners and businesses to show their support for recycling in the East Cape. We are also proud to be overseeing the recycling effort for the day's event with our new and attractive recycle containers and lots of clear and eye-catching signage to encourage festival goers to reduce, reuse, recycle! We are always looking for volunteers and especially those who have a passion for sustaining our world. Please come by & see our delicacies. Cinnamon rolls, cakes, breads, cookies, and more. Come by and pick up your special items to enjoy. I’m sharing a booth with Elizabeth Pudwill and her beautiful oil paintings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The My Thing of Beauty jewelry collection is a result of morning walks on East Cape beaches and discovering wonderful gifts delivered daily from the Sea of Cortes. These found Sea Glass bits and Sea Shells are combined with faceted glass beads, fresh water pearls and semi-precious stones to create one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets, earrings & book markers. I look forward to meeting you, MJ Keehn ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BATIK TECHNIQUE: Melted wax is applied to cloth before being dipped in dye. The beeswax will hold to the fabric and the paraffin wax will allow cracking, which is a characteristic of batik. Wherever the wax has seeped through the fabric, the dye will not penetrate This traditional method of batik making is called batik tulis. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are pleased to announce that Baja Books and Maps now has "Birds We See" by author C.E. Llewellyn in stock. Copies of this beautiful book will be available at the Art's Festival in Los Barriles on April 1st. Be sure to look for the Baja Books and Maps booth and get your copy! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The ranch families from the Sierra de la Laguna will be selling their handmade goods. Many of these items are becoming lost arts, so please support the talented and skilled artisans from the San Dionysio area. Master palapero Jose Flores Rosa will be there weaving baskets made of palo chino and dried palm leaves. He also has lia de piel de vaca (rolls of rawhide), clothes line posts, bench seats of palo chino and rawhide dog chews. Other handmade items available from the ranches are cacaistles (palo de arco boxes tied with rawhide), huacales (boxes made with palm wood and leather), embroidered pillow tops and napkins, papaya preserves, jamoncillo (tastes like butterscotch fudge, samples available), farm fresh eggs and goat cheese, exotic cactus and plants, and compost from the biosphere of the Sierra de la Laguna. Please come and support our Mexican ranch families. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Elizabeth Pudwill's oil paintings will be exhibited along with Ben Trogden's beautiful ceramics. Also available, bocce ball tickets for the April 19th games, and tickets for a special raffle to be held at that event. All profits generated by the East Cape Guild are used to fund scholarships for local students. The Anuual East Cape Art Festival Has Arrived!!
Tomorrow is the annual ART FAIR! It's always good. Lots of art, food, other stuff and People!

The Newest Star at Open Mic!!
What a nice evening of music. We had several first time guests last night along with many of our regulars. The crowd favorite had to be miss Anjali Pope, daughter of Tiffanie and Troy. Little Miss Anjali who is a personal friend of mine sang my favorite campfire song, "Old Susanna." She was accompanied by her mom. Not seen but heard playing the ukulele is Happy. Here's the video. Larry Russ Coming to the Roadrunner Cafe
Come join us for another great night of music featuring Larry Russ and Friends. I've seen Larry perform in several venues in Baja and Oregon and always enjoy his music. Here's a sample of one of my favorite Tom Waits (for no man) songs called "Heart of Saturday Night."
